Since 2006, the Independent Film Centre “Filmart” is the organizer of the International Student Film Camp “Interaction”. During their three-week stay in the western part of Serbia, film school students from all around the world shoot documentary films on a given subject.

Since 2001, the camp holds an international “Interdoc” masterclass on documentaries for young filmmakers. The lecturers were: Želimir Žilnik, Dragan Elčić, Mila Turajlić, Mladen Matičević, Vladimir Perović and Nebojša Slijepčević.

So far, there were 249 participants from 56 countries. Also, 50 documentaries were shot, 11 of which were awarded 20 different awards all over the world.

Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival has screened 12 camp-made films and two were awarded. During the 66th edition of the Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, Filmart received a diploma “for an exquisite selection of films that contribute to the Festival with their fin art quality”.

“Filmart” supports the film creativity of the young and particularly encourages the development and production of the documentary film by students of film schools.

The camp supporters include the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, Film Center Serbia, City of Čačak, Municipality of Ivanjica, Cinnamon Films, and other.

The third part of the Serbian animated film anthology covers the period from 1979 to 1984. The leader in the production of animation was Dunav Film from Belgrade. Neoplanta Film from Novi Sad has produced its last films, before shut-down in 1985. While the previous disc featured mostly the work of Borislav Šajtinac, this one presents the complete auteur work in Serbia by Dušan Petričić. Nikola Majdak (Senior) continues with his apocalyptic vision of reality, Veljko Bikić moves to a more commercial direction, Vera Vlajić returns to her personal subjects, Zoran Jovanović successfully gives life to his drawings, Stevica Živkov reaches his full creative maturity. Generally, Serbian production has a large variety of styles and subjects. The pessimism and optimism are equally present.

Many states, entire empires and movements, have rarely managed to exist continuously for over 60 years. This is precisely what a youth, alternative theater can boast of, under a cryptic and mysterious name – DADOV (Dramski Atelje Doma Omladine Vračara / Drama Atelier of the Vracar Youth Center). Enthusiasm, friendship, love of games and passion for imagination have lasted for more than half a century. And, to be honest, the end is not in sight.

Marko Čelebić 

Born in 1995 in Novi Sad. Obtained his BA in theater and radio directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, in the class of Professor Dušan Petrović and assistant Ana Tomović, as the valedictorian. Directed numerous student stage plays, as well as theater productions at the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad, UK Vuk and Dadovo. Demonstrator at FDA with Professor D. Mihajlović (theater directing and media). Since 2019, program editor at DADOV.

Zoran Bulović

Born in Belgrade in 1950. During his studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (1970-1977) he was an active member of the KST. Production member of the TV Belgrade Scientific Program from 1980 to 1990. For the last 25 years, he has been involved in production through a private studio and has made numerous national and international television projects.

A historical story of family and faith. For 900 years, the Andrović family has guarded the cross of the first Serbian saint, St. Jovan Vladimir. Only two family members at a time know where the cross is kept and hidden. The way they guard and pass it down from generation to generation demonstrates strength and family loyalty. The hero, Milo Andrović, talks about the time when others wanted to steal and institutionalize the cross. Through archival footage, we track the flow of time and the weight that the Guardians carry for centuries.

Miljan Gogić 

Obtained his BA in management in culture and media from the Belgrade Academy of Arts in 2006. The auteur of many short documentaries, the most notable being two documentaries Prison’s Prayer and The Guardians, premiered in May 2017. It won many international awards at festivals in Serbia, Italy, Sweden, Montenegro, Russia, and Ukraine, including the 2016 Golden Knight award. His films have also been screened at festivals in the US, Bangladesh, Nepal and Armenia.

What does the island of his desk, his creative environment speak about an author? Were those wonderfully imaginative novels created in unusual surroundings? This documentary TV film marks 90 years since the birth, 10 years since the death of Milorad Pavić, as well as 35 years since the creation of his Dictionary of the Khazars: A Lexicon Novel. Designed as a literary geography of his workspace, today his Legacy. The auteur of the film recorded the interview with Pavić, a valuable archival record, 12 years earlier and has not been shown in full, so far.

Marija Miljević Rajšić 

Born in Belgrade, where she obtained her BA in literature from the Faculty of Philology. She works for RTS, as editor and host of numerous shows. The author of talk series with the most prominent local and international artists. Its guests included, among others, Nobel laureates Mario Vargas Llosa and Peter Handke, directors Nikita Mihalkov and Jiří Menzel, numerous creators from the region: Emir Kusturica, Matija Bećković, Dragoslav Mihailović, Rade Šerbedžija, Mira Banjac, Stefan Milenković… Author of many TV travel logs and shows.

The Immortal Lieutenant in Death with a Smile, Ranka Velimirović (2006. / 56′)

A film about the April War hero, Yugoslav Royal Army Lieutenant Božidar Žugić, who ferociously confronted the invading fascists and willingly sacrifised his life in 1941 defending the country and honor of the army and the people.

Director, screenwriter, published author, academician. A full professor of film directing and dean of the Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts (1976-1996). Graduated from the Academy of Theater, Film, Radio and TV in Belgrade and continued his improvement at the famous Institute for Advanced Cinematographic Studies in Paris (IDHEC). Directed documentaries, television and radio dramas, as well as 8 feature films. Received many awards and prizes, including the Charter for Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema by the Russian Federation Filmmakers Association (2001). His films represented Yugoslav cinema at many international film festivals (Cannes, Venice, San Sebastian, Rio…). He was a member of the jury of the Yugoslav Documentary Film Festival as well as other national and international festivals.

Film and TV producer, director, documentary auteur. Started her career and work on the film in 1963, with her husband Zdravko on major film projects. Devoted almost six decades to the art of film as a creative collaborator in making significant cinematic works of the former Yugoslavia. As the founder of the production company Libra film, she made 44 documentaries as a producer and auteur, which won numerous awards at national and international festivals and represent the cultural and historical heritage of Serbia and Montenegro. She was a member of the Association of Film Artists, as well as a representative of Serbia in international juries at documentary film festivals.Celebrating 90 years of the birth of Zdravko Velimirović, director and screenwriter, a longtime professor and dean of the FDA, Belgrade and the 80 years of the birth of Ranka Velimirović, documentary filmmaker and producer.

The film explores the relationship between humans and birds and their mutual dependence over time. The focus is on Eurasian griffons – an endangered species of predators that feed on dead animals, also known as vultures. This derogatory name was given to birds by people as a sign and symbol for those who exploit others, who benefit from the suffering of others. After being almost completely destroyed by humans, vultures in Serbia today survive thanks to constant monitoring – chipping, marking, satellite tracking and organized feeding in the Uvac Nature Reserve. The scientific and artistic views intertwine here, revealing the dystopian/utopian ambivalence of each track – in their quest for ideal coexistence, the humans have created yet another species that depends entirely on their actions.

Nemanja Babić

Film director and editor, born in 1980. Started working in film at the Academic Cinema Club (AFC) of the Students’ City Cultural Center in 1999. The next year, he enrolled at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, majoring in film and TV editing. During his studies, he took part in making several documentaries and experimental films produced by AFC: Fifth Act/Peti čin (2002 best experimental film at the 49th Martovski Festival), Wall of Memories/Zid uspomena (2003, best screenplay at the 50th Martovski Festival) and others. After obtaining his BA in 2006, as an editor and director, he participated in numerous documentaries and TV projects in the former Yugoslavia, the Middle East and the United States. His The Unidentified: Nedodirljivi won the award for best short documentary at the SEE Film Festival in Los Angeles. He is devoted to developing visual communication and experimental application of modern technical achievements in the field of recording and post-production.

Matija Štifanić (12) belongs to the new generation, but unlike his peers, he wants to face a story from the past. His great-grandmother Milka Menjak Štifanić was sent to Auschwitz as a Partisan in 1943 with the first women’s transport from the territory of the German occupation zone in Serbia. He didn’t have a chance to meet her, but he read her memoirs. His great-grandmother’s story intrigues him, and he starts to investigate it.

Aleksandra Mitrić-Štifanić 

Born in 1982 in Sarajevo. Graduated Drama and Media Production from Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts. As the valedictorian of Production Department in 2001, won the Bojan Lukić award. Completed her master’s studies at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade in 2020. She has been working in film and TV production since 1996, first as an author of TV shows for children produced by RTV Republika Srpska, later as an executive producer of TV shows, commercials, presidential campaigns, industrial and documentary films and series. As an executive producer, she made several vital documentaries in the forum Theater East Sarajevo’s production. She was a jury member at several festivals, since 2007 she has been the selector and artistic director of the International Film Festival First Frame in East Sarajevo. In Republika Srpska, she completed two significant projects for the decentralization of film art. Journey is her first auteur documentary.
