MARTOVSKI FESTIVAL - 67/68 EDITION

19 – 25. APRIL 2021 // BELGRADE YOUTH CENTER

Since the 67th edition of the Martovski Festival had to be canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Festival Board ruled to arrange a double edition: The 67/68 Edition of the Martovski festival will take place from April 19-25, 2021, in Belgrade Youth Center under the management of the Center. The entire last year’s competition program, as well as the entries selected for this year’s competition program will have their screenings during the Festival. Furthermore, the films will win awards for both 67th and 68th editions, respectively.

One of the oldest Europe’s film festivals will last longer this year – 7 days, and the audience will have the chance to watch a vast film program in several national competitive categories: documentary film with running time up to and over 50 minutes, experimental film and video art, animated film, short film – a category with international selection, too.

We scheduled a number of special screenings, expert programmes and panel discussions for professionals and students, meetings and Q&A sessions with Festival guests, master classes and other supporting programmes.

The new Art Director of the Martovski Festival is Dejan Dabić, film critic and animated film director, and for many years the selector of the Niš Performing Arts Festival and the editor of the Cultural Center Niš Film Program.

The panel of selectors for the 67th and 68th Martovski Festival edition competition program consisted of: Milan Nikodijević, director, screenwriter and producer; Vladimir Šojat, film and TV editor, filmmaker and video artist; Nikola Majdak Jr., cinematographer, animated film director, director and lecturer. Dragana Latinović, director and producer, is also a member of the selection panel for the competition program of the 68th Martovski Festival. The expert associate of the 67th March Festival selection panel is Dragan Nikolić, the Belgrade Youth Center film program editor.

The 67/68 Martovski Festival jury will determine the awards – the Festival Grand Prix, the best film in each category, specialized awards for best directing, camera, editing and sound design/music is composed of: Želimir Žilnik, director and screenwriter (Jury president) – Serbia, Vera Vlajić, director, screenwriter and animated film director – Serbia, Igor Bezinović, director – Croatia, Dimitris Kerkinos, professor and film aesthetician – Greece, Radoslav T. Stanišić, doctor of dramatic arts: Department of Filmology and film and TV Director – Montenegro.

Besides the competition program, the Martovski Festival will have a traditionally abundant exhibition film program presented as International Panorama, Regional Panorama and National panorama. The audience will get the chance to see winners of grand international film festivals, national, regional and world premieres, works of prominent national and international filmmakers, as well as selected works from notable European festivals of short films in Clermont-Ferrand, Drama and Berlin.

Traditionally, the Martovski Festival is the meeting point for national and international filmmakers, producers, distributors and festival directors, reporters, critics, students, and professionals. It is the promotion spot of documentary, animated, short and experimental film, a platform for inspiration and developing new ideas, as well as the chance for the local audience to see exciting, carefully picked latest films they cannot see through regular cinema channels.

The ticket price remains the same – 200 dinars, while film academy students will have a free entrance with a valid index.
